Mr. Kishore Mukherjee, Mr. Ahitagni Dey, Advocates … … For the Petitioner. 1. In this application, the petitioner has prayed for a direction upon the Court below for expeditious disposal of G.R. Case No. 2970/2024 presently pending before learned Judicial Magistrate, 4th Court, Howrah. 2. Being aggrieved by the inordinate delay caused in disposal of the said proceeding, learned Counsel for the petitioner submits that the case was initiated on 16.06.2024 and after completion of investigation, Police submitted charge-sheet on 31st July, 2024. Thereafter, the charge was framed on 10th November, 2025 but since then for last one and half year the Court below has not yet examined a single witness. Therefore, he prayed for necessary direction upon the Court below for expeditious disposal of the said proceeding. 3. Having heard learned Counsel for the petitioner, it appears that the prayer made by the petitioner is innocuous and if it 2 is allowed in terms of the prayer made in the application, the opposite party will have no cause to prejudice and as such service of copy of application upon the opposite party is dispensed with. 4. Having heard learned Counsel for the petitioner and also considering the fact that the proceeding has got stalled since framing of charge, I find that the prayer made by the petitioner is justified and required to be allowed to secure the ends of justice. 5. In view of above, the instant proceeding being CRR/3059/2026 is hereby disposed of with a direction upon the Court below to make every endeavour for expeditious disposal of the proceeding being GR Case No. 2970/2024 presently pending before learned Judicial Magistrate, 4th Court, Howrah and to make his best effort to conclude the entire proceeding within a period of six months from the next date of hearing. 6.
