Through the instant writ petition, the petitioner seeks issuance of directions to the competent authority for re-issuance of his passport and correction of his place of birth from “Kathila” to “Kathiala”. 2. On the previous date of hearing, i.e. 13.07.2026, this Court passed the following order:- “1. At this stage, without issuing notice, learned counsel appearing on behalf of the respondents, being in receipt of an advance copy of the writ petition, is directed to have appropriate instructions from the competent authority and apprise this Court, on the next date of hearing, of the time frame within which the petitioner’s application for re-issuance of passport is likely to be decided. 2. List on 14.07.2026.” 3. Today, learned counsel appearing for the respondents, on instructions, submits that the petitioner’s application dated 08.06.2026 has been duly processed. It is submitted that a notice dated 22.06.2026 seeking DEVINDER YADAV 2026.07.15 13:21 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this order/judgment CWP-20805-2026 2 certain clarifications was issued to the petitioner, which was responded to by him on 06.07.2026. It is further submitted that the instant writ petition is premature at this stage, as the petitioner’s application is under active consideration before the competent authority, and that a final decision thereon shall be taken within a period of four weeks from today. 4. In view of the aforesaid statement, no further directions are required to be issued in the instant writ petition and the same is accordingly closed. This Court, however, remains sanguine that the competent authority shall honour the assurance given by learned counsel for the respondents. 5. Disposed of accordingly.
