Ms. Aishwarya Thapliyal, learned counsel for the petitioners. 2. Ms. Sweta Dobhal, learned Brief Holder for the State. 3. By the instant writ petition, the petitioners are praying for the following reliefs:- i) Issue a writ order or direction in the nature of mandamus commanding and directing the respondents no. 1 & 2 to provide adequate and immediate police protection to the life and liberty of the petitioners. ii) Issue a writ order or direction restraining the family members of petitioner no. 1 or any other private persons from causing any harm, harassment or interference in the peaceful life of the petitioners. 4. It is argued by the learned counsel for the petitioners that both the petitioners are major and were in love with each other and married on 17.03.2026 at Shivmandir, Thakurdwara and the certificate of marriage is also enclosed. In support of age, copy of Aadhar card of both the petitioners have been enclosed 5. It is argued that there is a threat perception from respondent no. 3, father of petitioner no. 1 since he was compelling petitioner no. 1 to marry with another person with whom petitioner no. 1 was not agreed. 7. Both the petitioners are present in Court and identified by their counsel. Parents of petitioner no. 2 are also present and submit that they happily accepted their marriage. 2026:UHC:1973 8. It is argued that since there is threat perception from respondent no. 3, therefore, the petitioners may be given adequate protection. Petitioner no. 1 also submitted a representation to the S.S.P. U.S. Nagar in this regard. 9. Ms. Sweta Dobhal, learned Brief Holder for the State, on instructions, submits that respondent no. 3 also lodged a missing report of his daughter- petitioner no. 1. 10. Be that as it may, admittedly both the petitioners are married and are major, therefore, they are free to marry with their own choice. 11. In such an eventuality, since, petitioners already approached to the S.S.P., U.S. Nagar, let S.S.P. Udham Singh Nagar may assess whether there is any threat perception to the petitioners from respondent no. 3 and if he comes to the conclusion that there is a threat perception take necessary steps to secure their life and liberty. In addition to this respondent no. 3- S.H.O. Jaspur, District U.S. Nagar is also directed to call upon respondent no. 3 and to advice him not to take law in their hands. 12. Subject to above observations, and direction as above, the instant writ petition is disposed of. 13. Pending application, if any, also stands disposed of.
