Mr. Ankush Singhal, learned counsel for the petitioners. 2. Mr. B.C. Joshi, learned A.G.A. for the State. 3. By the instant petition, the petitioners Shabina D/o Israr Ahmed and Ashutosh S/o Mahendra Singh are praying for the following reliefs. “(i) Issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of mandamus directing the respondent no.2 & 3 to provide adequate security to the petitioners and also to direct the respondent no. 4 to 8 not to interfere in the life and liberty of the petitioners, in any way. (ii) Issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of mandamus directing the respondent no.2 to decide the representation dated 01.04.2026 (Annexure No. 5) and provide adequate protection to the petitioners.” 4. It is contended that both the petitioners are known to each other since last three years and they were in love though belong to different religion. They are major and married on 23.09.2025 at Arya Samaj Mandir. The certificate of marriage is enclosed as Annexure -4. In support of age both the petitioners have enclosed their Aadhaar Cards, and as per their Aadhaar Cards, the date of birth of the petitioner no. 1 is 24.10.2001 and the date of birth of petitioner no.2 is 16.05.2003. 5. On the other side, Mr. B.C. Joshi, the learned A.G.A. have not disputed on their age and submits that both of them are major, and though 2026:UHC:1553 they belong to different religion but they can marry with each other, therefore, the State administration will take appropriate steps for their life and liberty. A representation was also made to the S.S.P. and is annexed as Annexure -5. 6. Be that as it may, admittedly both the petitioners are major and they were in love and now they are married. Therefore, in such an eventuality the State is under legal obligation to assess the threat perception if any from respondent no. 4 to 8. In such view of the matter, instant writ petition is disposed of finally with the direction to the S.S.P. Udham Singh Nagar to assess the threat perception of the petitioners from respondent no. 4 to 8 and if he comes to the conclusion that there is any threat from the private respondents, he shall take appropriate steps for their life and liberty. In addition to this, the S.H.O. Bazpur, District Uham Singh Nagar is also directed to call upon all the respondent nos. 4 to 8 and advise them not to take the law in their hands. 7.
