Learned senior advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that the subject-matter of the present case relates to alleged recovery of 43 kgs. of Ganja and petitioner is in custody for more than six months. It has been submitted that the petitioner is the owner of the vehicle and is innocent of the charges. As such, petitioner prays for bail. Learned advocate appearing for the State, on the other hand, opposes the prayer for bail and submits that there are criminal antecedents of the present petitioner in respect of similar offences for which Gaighata P.S. Case No. 672 of 2019 dated 03.09.2019 and Taldangra P.S. Case No. 106 of 2024 dated 21.11.2024 have been registered. Having considered the previous antecedents of the present petitioner, I am not inclined to release the present 2 petitioner on bail. As such, the prayer for bail of the petitioner, at this stage, is rejected. Learned Trial Court is directed to take steps for expediting the process of trial. The application for bail, being CRM (NDPS) 1281 of 2026, is, thus, disposed of. Memo of Evidence submitted by the learned advocate appearing for the State be kept with the record. All concerned parties shall act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.
