HON’BLE MR JUSTICE SANJAY PARIHAR, JUDGE
O R D E R 11.09.2026
1. Secretary Law, Mr. Tariq Qureshi, is present.
2. Heard learned counsel for the petitioners.
3. During the course of hearing, learned counsel appearing for respondent, Faizan Ahmad (CGC), submits that, with the enactment of S.O. 259 dated 3rd September, 2026, the composition of the Autonomous Hill Development Council, Kargil, has undergone a change consequent upon the creation of the Districts of Zanskar and Drass out of the erstwhile District Kargil and the coming into force of three Hill Councils. It is further submitted that, in terms of the said notification, new Hill Councils have also come into force for the other two districts. In view of these subsequent developments, the instant petition has been rendered infructuous.
4. Given the submissions made, learned senior counsel appearing for the petitioner seeks some time to examine the aforesaid notification and submits that, at this stage, he does not wish to press the instant petition, while reserving liberty to file a fresh petition, in case the need arises. Statement is taken on record.
5. This petition is, accordingly, dismissed as not pressed, with liberty as prayed for.
6. The S.O. so drawn is taken on record and shall form part of the record.
