Not only this, now this ward No.5 has been reserved for female candidates.
3. Mr. Jastej Singh, Addl. A.G., Punjab for respondent Nos.1 and 2; and Mr. D.S. Randhawa, Advocate for respondent No.3, having received advance noce, point out that the peoner had earlier filed CWP No.14104 of 2026, making similar allegaon that respondents were not adhering to the statement made by the State Government on instrucons from the respondent-competent authority as was noced in the order SARITA RANI 2026.07.14 17:46 I attest to the accuracy of this document/order
COCP-2773-2026 (O&M) - 3 - 2026:PHHC:095145 dated 18.03.2026 (Annexure P-1). In that writ peon, a reference was made to the representaon dated 17.04.2026 and then this Court vide
order dated 06.05.2026 (Annexure P-4) directed that in case, any such representaon dated 17.04.2026 had been received and was sll pending, appropriate order will be passed within a period of ten days from the receipt of the cerfied copy of that order. Learned counsel for the respondents further submits that pursuant to the order dated 06.05.2026 (Annexure P-4) as passed in CWP No.14104 of 2026, the order dated 15.05.2026 (Annexure P-6) has already been passed by the competent authority.
4. However, learned counsel for the peoner contends that the aforesaid order (Annexure P-6) is in violaon of the undertaking made by the respondents in the order dated 18.03.2026 (Annexure P-1) and therefore, the contempt proceedings are liable to be iniated.
5. A>er hearing learned counsel for the pares, this Court is of the view that once the order dated 06.05.2026 (Annexure P-4) has been complied with by passing a speaking order dated 15.05.2026 (Annexure P- 6), no case is made out for iniang the contempt proceedings. Disposed of accordingly.
