The State of West Bengal Mr. Sabir Ahmed Mr. Dhiman Banerjee Mr. Quazi Ezaz Ahmed ..for the petitioner Mr. Subir Ganguly Mr. Sandeep Prasad Shaw ..for the State The petitioner seeks the expeditious disposal of NDPS Case No. 65 of 2024, arising out of Lalgola Police Station Case No. 819 of 2024, registered under Sections 21(c)/29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, read with Section 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, which is presently pending before the Court of the learned Additional District Judge, Special Court under the NDPS Act, 2nd Court, Berhampore, Murshidabad. It appears from the materials on record that, out of the 28 prosecution witnesses, three witnesses have been examined thus far. This Court is not inclined to pass any peremptory order in the present application. However, it is desirable that the learned Judge of the Court below take all necessary steps to ensure the expeditious progress of the trial, as early as possible, without granting any unnecessary adjournments to either of the parties.
