CWP-20424-2026 158 Harmel Singh ...... Petitioner Versus The State of Punjab & ors. ..... Respondents CORAM : HON'BLE MR.JUSTICE PANKAJ JAIN *** Present :- Mr. Robin Singh Bhullar, Advocate and Mr. J.S.Sidhu, Advocate for the petitioner. *** PANKAJ JAIN, J. (ORAL) The petitioner seeks a writ in the nature of mandamus directing official respondents to take action against respondent No.6 under Section 20 of the Punjab Panchayati Raj Act, 1994. 2 The petitioner, who is the Sarpanch of the Gram Panchayat, claims that respondent No.6, Panch of the Gram Panchayat, has encroached upon the Panchayat land. It is discernible from the records that the Gram Panchayat has already filed a civil suit against respondent No.6. Order dated 12.05.2026 has been passed whereby the parties have been ordered to maintain status quo. 3 Keeping in view that the issue with respect to encroachment is already pending before the Civil Court, this Court finds no reason to interfere in the writ petition, lest the same may prejudice the Courts below.
