He submits that despite lapse of considerable time, the appeal has not been decided, causing serious financial hardship to the petitioner. Learned State counsel submits that if the petitioner's statutory departmental appeal is pending consideration before the competent appellate authority, the same shall be considered and decided, in accordance with law, within a period of 40 days. 3. Considering the limited relief sought by the petitioner and the submission made by learned State counsel, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction that if the petitioner's statutory departmental appeal dated 08.04.2026 is still pending before the competent appellate authority, the same shall be considered and decided by a reasoned and speaking order, in accordance with law, within a period of 40 days from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
