1. The instant writ petition was filed for a direction upon the municipal authorities to rescind and/or cancel the demand notices dated 9th May 2024 and 21st July 2025. The petitioner’s case proceeds on the premise that the municipality has been making demands without giving credit to the sum already deposited which are kept in the suspense account.
2. The municipality had since filed a computation sheet. Mr. Ghosh, learned advocate representing the municipality by placing reliance on the above computation sheet and the note duly countersigned by the Assistant Assessing Collector – III dated 7th July 2026 had on the last occasion submitted submit that a sum of Rs.17,918/- is due and payable by the petitioner upto the fourth quarter of 2026-

27. A copy of the computation sheet was accordingly made over to the learned advocate for the petitioner for him to take appropriate instruction in the matter.
3. Today Mr. Dutta, the learned senior advocate for the petitioner would submit on instruction that the petitioner is ready and willing to make payment of the aforesaid sum in course of this week.
4. Accordingly the petitioner is permitted to make payment of the aforesaid sum of Rs.17,918/- with the municipality. In the event, the petitioner makes payment of the aforesaid sum and an intimation thereof is forwarded to the municipal authorities, the demand raised by the municipal authorities which forms the subject matter of writ petition for the period upto the 4th quarter of 2026-27 shall no longer be enforceable.
5. In view of the above, nothing survives in the writ petition. The writ petition is accordingly disposed of.
