This writ petition alleges inaction on the part of the respondent WBSEDCL authorities in granting electricity connection to the petitioner’s submersible pump. 2. Mr. Halder, learned advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that despite an application having been made on May 29, 2026, the respondent WBSEDCL authorities have neither raised any quotation nor supplied electricity connection to the petitioner’s submersible pump. 3. Learned advocate appearing for the respondent WBSEDCL authorities submits that the petitioner’s application could not be processed inasmuch as the petitioner has indicated the tariff category as commercial instead of agricultural/irrigation. It is submitted that if the petitioner puts in a fresh application form, the same may be considered, in accordance with law. 4. Having heard the learned advocates appearing for the respective parties and having considered the material on record, this writ petition is disposed of by granting liberty to the petitioner to make a fresh application before the respondent WBSEDCL authorities for supply of electricity to his submersible pump, in accordance with law. If such application is made, WBSEDCL authorities shall dispose of the same, in accordance with law within a period of four weeks from the date of application thereof. 5. Needless to mention that if the petitioner is found eligible and entitled to grant of electricity supply, in accordance with law and the rules and regulations governing such grant, the respondent WBSEDCL authorities shall supply such electricity to the petitioner upon the petitioner complying with all the requisite formalities including payment of charges, in accordance with law. 6. With the aforesaid observations, WPA 15961 of 2026 stands disposed of. 7. There shall be no order as to costs. 8. Urgent certified photocopy of this order, if applied for, be supplied as expeditiously as possible. (Om Narayan Rai, J.) 2
