Petitioner(s) versus State Of Chhattisgarh Through Police Station Tikrapara, Raipur, District Raipur (C.G.) ... Respondent(s) For Petitioner(s) : None For Respondent/State : Ms. Ritika Verma, Panel Lawyer. Hon'ble Shri Ramesh Sinha , Chief Justice Order on Board 22.07.2026 1. This is an office reference. 2. This Court, vide order dated 20.01.2026 passed in MCRC No. 693 of 2026, while rejecting the bail of the petitioner, namely, Onyeka Stephen Ozuchuku, had expressed its trust that the trial Court would make an earnest endeavor to conclude the trial expeditiously in accordance with law, preferably within a period of six months from the date of passing of the order, if there was no legal impediment. 3. The learned Special Judge, (NDPS Act), Raipur District-Raipur KUNAL DEWANGAN Digitally signed by KUNAL DEWANGAN 2 (C.G.) vide his request letter dated 06.07.2026 has requested for grant of six month’s additional time for concluding the trial. 4. It transpires from perusal of the P.U.D. that, despite continuous issuance of warrants of arrest through the Superintendent of Police and the Commissioner of Police for securing the presence of the prosecution witnesses, the warrants have been received unexecuted and the presence of the witnesses could not be ensured. Consequently, the prosecution evidence could not be completed within the stipulated period. In the aforesaid circumstances, the learned trial Court has submitted that additional time is required for recording the statements of the remaining prosecution witnesses and thereafter for conducting the examination of the accused, recording defence evidence, hearing final arguments and pronouncing judgment. Accordingly, the learned trial Court has sought extension of time and has prayed for grant of a further period of six months for concluding the trial and final disposal of the case. 5. The request made by the learned trial Court, is allowed, however, instead of granting six months, this Court deems it appropriate to grant further 04 months time for concluding the trial from today. 6. Accordingly, this CRMP stands disposed off with the aforesaid direction. 7. Registry is directed to send a certified copy of this order to the trial Court concerned for necessary information and compliance. Sd/- (Ramesh Sinha) Chief Justice Kunal
