A copy of the report filed by the respondent no. 5 is kept on record. 2. The petitioner had participated in the selection process for Accredited Social Health Activist also known as ASHA. The petitioner was empanelled and was the first candidate in the said panel. The panel was duly sent by the respondent no. 5 for approval, which is still pending. The said panel was sent through the concerned Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH), Malda. This process had been done sometime in 2022. As of date, in 2026, the concerned authority, the respondent no. 7, has not yet appointed the petitioner. 3. From the report it does not appear that the respondents are averse to or have any reservation regarding the appointment of the petitioner. The report in fact is clear that the name of the petitioner has 2 already been recommended by the respondent no 5 to the Additional Mission Director through the concerned CMOH. There being no adverse report or observation as to the petitioner’s candidature, there is no reason why the candidature of the petitioner has been kept pending for such a long period of time from 2022. 4. In view of this inordinate delay, I direct the respondent no. 7 to immediately take steps and ensure that the petitioner is appointed as an ASHA worker by August 20, 2026. 5. With the aforestated directions, the writ petition is disposed of. 6. There shall be no order as to costs. 7.
