The petitioner is the son of a former employee of the respondent no. 4, who expired sometime in the year 2023. The petitioner is seeking compassionate appointment with the respondent no. 4 in place and stead of his late father. After several attempts made before the West Bengal State Administrative Tribunal, which is currently non-functioning, the Hon’ble Division Bench of this Court by its order dated June 24, 2026 has granted liberty to the petitioner to approach this Court for a selfsame relief as prayed for in OA 574 of 2025. 3. The petitioner’s grievance is to the limited extent that the respondent no. 2 even after receipt of all requisite documents on December 19, 2023 from the respondent no. 4, has not taken any decision in the 2 matter and has kept it pending for almost 2 and 1/2 years now. 4. The respondent no. 2 is directed to immediately dispose of the petitioner’s application for appointment to service on compassionate ground after considering all documents, which have been submitted before it on December 19, 2023. 5. The respondent no. 2 will complete the process of consideration and passed a reasoned order and facilitate the appointment of the petitioner, if he is found otherwise eligible by August 20, 2026 and inform the petitioner and the respondent no. 4. 6. With the afore-stated directions, the writ petition is disposed of. 7. There shall, however, be no order as to costs. 8.
