The petitioner is aggrieved that his application for voluntary retirement from government service, made sometime in February 2026, has not yet been considered. 3. Ms. Banerjee, learned AGP, appearing for the authority, submits that the petitioner is on the verge of facing disciplinary proceedings, inter alia, on account of absence from work of about 1,349 days, without any leave. 4. In fact, several show-cause notices were issued, lastly on 13.01.2026, to which no reply has yet been given by the petitioner. 5. The petitioner is granted liberty to reply to such show-cause notice by 31.07.2026. 6. The authorities are also at liberty to consider the application for voluntary retirement, if they so deem fit. Furthermore, the authorities are at liberty to proceed with the disciplinary proceedings if they are not satisfied with the reply to the show-cause notice. 7. The consideration of the application of the petitioner for voluntary retirement from service will not be construed to create any equity in his favor and will be P a g e | 2 considered independently from the disciplinary proceedings. 8. It is expected that the disciplinary proceedings, if initiated, will be concluded within a reasonable period of time. 9. With the afore-stated directions, the writ-petition is disposed of.
