The lackadaisical and indolent approach of the competent authority in deciding the petitioner’s application dated 16.02.2024, seeking renewal of the arms licence, has compelled the petitioner to institute the instant writ petition seeking issuance of appropriate directions to the competent authority. 2. When the matter was taken up during the pre-lunch session, this Court directed the learned State counsel to have appropriate instructions from the competent authority and apprise this Court of the time frame within which a final decision is likely to be taken on the petitioner’s application. 3. Accordingly, during the post-lunch session, the learned State counsel, on instructions received from Ms. Mandeep Kaur, PCS, ADC (G), informed the Court that the petitioner’s application seeking renewal of the arms licence shall be decided within a period of four weeks from the date of this order. In view of the statement made by the learned State counsel, no further directions are required to be issued. The writ petition stands closed.
