Serial No.20 REGULAR CAUSE LIST HIGH COURT OF JAMMU & KASHMIR AND LADAKH AT SRINAGAR WP(C) 2169/2026 CM(5893/2026) Mohammad Akbar Rather & Others …Petitioner/Appellant(s) Through: Sheikh Imtiyaz, Advocate Vs. UT of J&K and Ors. ...Respondent(s) Through: Mr. Jahingeer Ahmad Dar, GA CORAM: HON’BLE THE CHIEF JUSTICE (ACTING) HON’BLE MR. JUSTICE MOHD YOUSUF WANI, JUDGE ORDER 07.09.2026 1. This petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India filed by the petitioners is directed against the order and judgment dated 25th March, 2026, passed by the Central Administrative Tribunal, Srinagar Bench [“the Tribunal”] in MA No. 866/2024 in OA No. 367/2024 titled “Mohammad Akbar Rather and Ors. Vs. Union Territory of J&K and Ors.”, whereby the claim of the petitioners for payment of wages for the period from the year 2014 till the end of the year 2018 has been rejected on the ground of limitation. 2. Having heard learned counsel for the parties and perused the material on record, we are of the considered opinion that the judgment passed by the Tribunal is legally sound and does not call for any interference. The wages which the petitioners claim pertains to the period from 2014 to 2018, MIR ARIF MANZOOR I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document 08.09.26 which wages on the face of it are barred by limitation. Even the claim for recovery of such wages in civil law is equally hit by the law of limitation. The Tribunal has, therefore, rightly declined to entertain the claim of the petitioners and dismissed the Original Application. The view thus taken by the Tribunal is unexceptionable and, therefore, deserves to be upheld. 3. For the foregoing reasons, we find no merit in this petition and the same is accordingly dismissed.
