The present Writ Petition is filed seeking a declaration that the inaction of Respondent Nos. 2 to 6 in cancelling the Sri Sri Sri Peddamma Talli Grama Jatara proposed to be celebrated on 05.06.2026, 06.06.2026 and 07.06.2026 at Akumalla Village, Sanjamala Mandal, Nandyal District, allegedly at the instance of the unofficial Respondent No. 7 and his supporters, despite receipt of the representations submitted by the petitioners, is illegal, arbitrary, and violative of the petitioners' rights. 2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioners and the learned Government Pleader appearing for the respondents. 3. The learned Assistant Government Pleader, on the basis of written instructions, submitted that the Sri Sri Sri Peddamma Talli Grama Jatara scheduled to be celebrated on 05.06.2026, 06.06.2026 and 07.06.2026 in Akumalla Village, Sanjamala Mandal, Nandyal District, is being organized by the villagers with the participation, consent, and approval of the recognized village representatives and elders. It is further submitted that certain disputes had earlier arisen among the villagers relating to issues concerning village elders and the shifting of the village market, pursuant to which Crime No. 44 of 2025 and Crime No. 45 of 2025 were registered as case and counter-case. However, according to the respondents, the allegation that the Jatara is being conducted without consulting the village elders is factually incorrect. 4 4. The learned Assistant Government Pleader further submitted that the petitioners themselves are not recognized village representatives. In accordance with the existing village customs and practices, jatara is scheduled. It is also submitted that the necessary arrangements have already been made by the authorities for the smooth conduct of the festival and that adequate police personnel have been deployed to maintain law and order during the celebrations. 5. Upon consideration of the submissions made on either side and having regard to the material placed before this Court, this Court is not inclined to grant the relief sought for by the petitioners viz. cancellation of the Jatara. The balance of convenience does not lie in favour of granting such relief, particularly when the festival is proposed to be conducted with the participation of the villagers from tomorrow and adequate arrangements have been made by the authorities to ensure maintenance of peace and public order. 6. In view of the above circumstances and in view of the categorical submission made by the respondents that adequate police arrangements are being made, the respondent police are directed to take all necessary precautionary measures and maintain appropriate surveillance from time to time during the celebration of the jatara/festival. 7. With the above directions, the Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. 5 As a sequel, miscellaneous petitions, if any pending and the Interim order granted earlier, if any, shall stand closed. ____________________________ A.
