Digitally signed by SHWETHA RAGHAVENDRA Location: HIGH COURT OF KARNATAKA - 2 - HC-KAR NC: 2026:KHC:34926 WP No. 20870 of 2026 THIS PETITION, COMING ON FOR ORDERS, THIS DAY, ORDER WAS MADE THEREIN AS UNDER: CORAM: HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE SURAJ GOVINDARAJ ORAL ORDER 1. Learned AGA accepts notice for respondents No.1 and 2. 2. The petitioner who is the son of the detenu-Puttaraju H.V CTP No.79/26 is before this Court seeking for the following reliefs: a. Direct the Respondent No. 2 to grant general parole to the Petitioner's convict Father PUTTARAJU H.V. @ PUTTI CTP-79/26 for a period of 30 days with liberty to seek extension of parole on the ground to enable him to participate in and solemnized petitioner marriage and also discharge his parental responsibilities. Hence the presence of the convict is necessarily required for the said purpose. b. Pass such other order(s) which this Court may deem fit and proper under the facts and circumstances of the case, in the interest of justice. 3. The detenu had been convicted in S.C.No.49/2010 for offences under Section 144, 148, 302 r/w 149 of IPC by the II Additional District and Sessions Judge, Hassan and with the highest of the sentence being imprisonment for life. The detenu has served a period of 1 years 27 days of imprisonment as on 8.07.2026 and his conduct in jail is said to be satisfactory. The petitioner having made an application for parole, the same came to be rejected - 3 - HC-KAR NC: 2026:KHC:34926 WP No. 20870 of 2026 on account of adverse report having received by the police. 4. The petitioner son of detenu Putraju.H.V, CTP No.79 of 26 is seeking for parole on the ground that the petitioner's marriage is scheduled on 12.07.2026. The detenu had been convicted for offences under Section 144, 148, 302 r/w 149 of IPC in SC No.49 of 2010 by the II Additional District and Sessions Judge, Hassan. The detenu has undergone total imprisonment and incarceration for a period of 1 year 27 days. I am of the considered opinion that, the detenu being sentenced for imprisonment for life having only served 1 year 27 days, this is not a fit case for grant or parole on the grounds indicated. 5. The prison authorities are however directed to enable the detenu to participate in the wedding celebrations through video conferencing. 6. With the above observation, the petition stands dismissed.
