In terms of the order dated 17th June, 2026 a report is filed by the Inspector-in-Charge, Budge Budge Police Station, Diamond Harbour Police District signed on 2nd July, 2026 and the same is taken on record. Copy of the report signed on 2nd July, 2026 is made over to the learned advocate representing the petitioner. 2. It is disclosed in the report that following three criminal prosecutions are pending:- (i) Budge Budge PS Case No. 125/26 dated 25th April, 2026; (ii) Budge Budge PS Case No. 167/26 dated 04th June, 2026; (iii) Budge Budge PS Case No. 187/26 dated 16th June, 2026. In connection with the investigation raids were conducted on several dates and those dates are also disclosed in the report. 2 3. In view of pendency of aforesaid criminal prosecutions, prayer of the petitioner to provide police protection since petitioner is alleged to have been victim of post poll violence is not countenanced. 4. Rather police authorities are directed to carry out investigation in accordance with law and bring those investigations to logical conclusion at an early date by submitting report before the jurisdictional magistrate. However, petitioner shall be at liberty to approach the jurisdictional magistrate, if occasion so arises. 5. Accordingly, the writ petition stands dismissed. 6. Urgent photostat certified copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities. (Saugata Bhattacharyya, J.)
