The present petition had been filed for issuance of a direction to the State to convene the first meeting of the newly elected Members of the Municipal Corporation, Kapurthala for administering oath of allegiance to them as also to elect therein Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor. It is also prayed that as and when the above-referred meeting is convened, to maintain transparency and fairness the convener of the meeting should be directed to conduct the afore elections as per the instructions issued by the Government of Punjab dated 05.06.2026 (Annexure P-5). 2. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the first prayer, as above, has been rendered infructuous because the date for holding of the first meeting of the newly elected Members of the Municipal Corporation, Kapurthala has already been fixed by the State as 08.07.2026. 3.
