07.07.2026 rc/ct.no.15 Item No.46 WPA No. 14705 of 2026 Kuddus Ali @ Md. Kuddus Ali Versus The State of West Bengal & Ors. Mr. Debapriya Majumder ..for the petitioner Mr. Madhu Jana Mr. Rahul Agarwala …for the State Report submitted by the State is taken on record. The petitioner/Sabhapati of Raninagar-II Panchayat Samity has assailed the notice of meeting issued on June 24, 2026 fixing the date of meeting on July 02, 2026 on the ground that the notice was not sent/served to him. It appears from the report that the notice of meeting was sent to this petitioner and received by his son Rafiqul Islam on his behalf since the petitioner was in judicial custody at that time. The petitioner denies and disputes the signature of his son in the notice. In any event, the meeting was stayed by this Court by an order passed on July 01, 2026. Surprisingly, despite such stay, the Prescribed Authority adjourned the meeting due to non-availability of police assistance. In view of the above, this Court is inclined to hold that since the notice assailed by the petitioner is in connection with the meeting scheduled to be held on July
02, 2026 and has been adjourned by the Prescribed Authority, the writ petition has become redundant and is accordingly dismissed. There shall, however, be no order as to costs. Urgent certified website copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities. (Suvra Ghosh,J) 2
