The sole grievance propelling the petitioner to institute the instant writ petition stems from the indolent and lackadaisical approach of the competent authority in deciding the petitioner’s application for the grant of an arms licence. 2. Referring to the training certificate (Annexure P-11) issued under Rule 10(1) of the Arms Rules, 2016, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is duly eligible to apply for an arms licence and possesses the requisite medical fitness certificate and fulfills all other prescribed formalities. However, despite the same, the competent authority has failed to take a final decision on the petitioner’s application for the grant of an arms licence. 3. In view of the above, and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case or the petitioner’s claim, the instant writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the competent authority, amongst the respondents, to take a final decision on the petitioner’s application for the grant of an arms licence, in accordance with law, within six weeks from the date of receipt of a certified copy of this order. 5. Liberty is also reserved to the petitioner to seek revival of the instant writ petition in the event the authority concerned fails to comply with the directions issued hereinabove.
