Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that after the demise of the petitioner's father, who was serving as a Government JYOTI SHARMA Digitally signed by JYOTI SHARMA Date: 2026.07.14 10:42:18 +0530 2 employee, the petitioner submitted an application seeking compassionate appointment under the prevailing policy of the State Government. It is further submitted that the said application was duly forwarded to respondent No. 2 and the petitioner was informed by respondent No. 4 vide communication dated 19.11.2025 that the application had been forwarded for consideration. However, despite the lapse of considerable time, the petitioner's application for compassionate appointment has not yet been decided. 2. Learned State counsel submits that if the petitioner's application is still pending consideration before the competent authority, the same shall be considered and decided strictly in accordance with law within a period of 45 days. 3. I have heard learned counsel for the parties and perused the material available on record. 4. Considering the limited grievance raised in the present writ petition and in view of the submission made by learned State counsel, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the petitioner's claim, the present writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the competent authority to consider and decide the petitioner's pending application for compassionate appointment, in accordance with the applicable policy and law, by passing a reasoned and speaking order, as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of 45 days from the date of receipt of a 3 certified copy of this order. 5. It is made clear that this Court has not expressed any opinion on the merits of the petitioner's claim and the competent authority shall take an independent decision in accordance with law. 6.
