In this writ petition, the petitioner has prayed for grant of victim compensation, as she is a victim of criminal offences. 3. On the last date i.e. 05.08.2026, this Court directed the petitioner to file an affidavit stating that how much amount the petitioner has received, by way of compensation. 4. Pursuant to the aforesaid order, an affidavit has been filed on 17.08.2026, wherein the petitioner has stated that she has received compensation of Rs.7,75,000/-, as on date. In para-6 of the said affidavit, the petitioner through a tabular chart has mentioned the details of the cases against which, compensation 2026:JHHC:27319 2 has been paid to the petitioner. It is necessary to quote para-6 of the said affidavit, along with the tabular chart, which reads as hereunder:- "6. That it is humbly stated and submitted that details of cases and compensation amount received in the petitioner's bank account are as follows:- S.I. no. Case no. Under Section Scheme and Compensation amount remakes Bank account no. 1. Palamu sadar P.S. case no.162/2002, SC/ST case no.11/2002 Rs.2,50,000/- Case is disposed 2. It is the grievance of the petitioner that the offences which were committed against the petitioner and for which the case was registered and mentioned at serial Nos.3, 4, 5 and 6 of the aforesaid chart, were of the year 2020, 2023, 2022 and 2022 respectively, but in spite of that the compensation amount has 2026:JHHC:27319 3 been paid in terms of the Notification of 2016, and not as per the Notification dated 30.07.2019. It is her contention that the limit of compensation has been enhanced by the said Notification for the victims, but the petitioner has not been granted the benefit of the said Notification. 6. Considering the contentions of the petitioner, I dispose this Writ Petition, with a direction to the Deputy Commissioner, Ranchi (respondent No.3), to consider the claim of the petitioner and if it is found that the petitioner is entitled for compensation at the enhanced rate, as per the subsequent Notification, he will take all appropriate steps, so that the legally payable amount be paid to the petitioner. The Deputy Commissioner will take such decision within eight weeks. 6.1. It is also made clear that since the petitioner is appearing in person, the Member Secretary, Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JHALSA), will also take appropriate steps, so that the grievance of the petitioner can be redressed. 7. With the aforesaid observations and directions, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. 8. A copy of this order be forwarded to the Member Secretary, JHALSA.
