JUSTICE RONGON MUKHOPADHYAY --- For the Petitioner : M/s. Ankit Apurva & Saman Ahmad, Advocate For the Respondent : Mr. Nilesh Kumar, Advocate --- 2/07.09.2026 Heard Mr. Ankit Apurva, learned counsel for the petitioner in W.P.(Cr.) Nos. 253 of 2026 and 534 of 2026, Mr. Nilesh Kumar, learned -2- counsel for the petitioner in W.P.(Cr.) Filing No. 17522 of 2026 and Mr. Nilesh Kumar, learned counsel for the opposite party no. 2 in W.P.(Cr.) No. 253 of 2026 and Mr. Ankit Apurva, learned counsel for the opposite party no. 2 in W.P.(Cr.) Filing No. 17522 of 2026. In all the three writ applications, the petitioners have prayed for quashing of the entire criminal proceedings instituted against the petitioners of the respective cases on account of a compromise which has been subsequently effected between the parties. In W.P.(Cr.) No. 253 of 2026 and W.P.(Cr.) No. 534 of 2026, it appears from the allegations that on 20.09.2024 at about 11:45 A.M. during course of recording of evidence in a matrimonial proceeding being M. T. S. No. 575 of 2024, one lawyer who was neither a party nor engaged as a counsel allegedly interrupted the proceedings and started abusing the informant in filthy language. It has been alleged that the said person misbehaved with the informant, caught hold of her collar and attempted to drag her and when a protest was made, the said accused along with other advocates and their clerks forming an unlawful assembly entered into the court premises and assaulted the informant’s brother with fists and slaps and also extended threats of dire consequences to the informant and her family members. On intervention of the police personnel present in the court and other counsels, no further escalation could take place. In W. P. (Cr.) Filing No. 17522 of 2026, the allegations reveal that on 20.09.2024, the informant along with his client were present in court of the learned Principal Judge, Family Court, Ranchi and in the meantime the accused persons had come and attacked the informant with an intention to commit his murder. On account of the assault, the gown and band of the informant got teared and informant was also abused by the accused persons. On account of the intervention made by the lawyers who were present, the matter was finally resolved and the petitioner was taken for medical treatment at the dispensary situated at Civil Court. It has been submitted by Mr. Ankit Apurva, learned counsel for the petitioner in W.P.(Cr.) Nos. 253 of 2026 and 534 of 2026 that the matter has been compromised between the parties. It has been submitted -3- that a case and counter case has been instituted on account of a solitary incident which had taken place on 20.09.2024 and he does not object to the quashing of the entire criminal proceeding in connection with W. P. (Cr.) Filing No. 17522 of 2026 in which the petitioner in W.P.(Cr.) No. 534 of 2026 is the informant. Mr. Nilesh Kumar, learned counsel for the petitioner in W. P. (Cr.) Filing No. 17522 of 2026 and the informant in W.P.(Cr.) No. 253 of 2026 has accepted the factum of compromise and has submitted that at the behest of the well-wishers the matter has been settled between the parties. It has been submitted that the accused in both the cases are lawyers practicing in the Ranchi Civil Court and since good relationship has restored, he also prays for quashing of the entire criminal proceeding in connection with W. P. (Cr.) Filing No. 17522 of 2026 and he does not have any objection if the entire criminal proceedings in W.P.(Cr.) Nos. 253 of 2026 and 534 of 2026 are also quashed. On consideration of the submission advanced by the learned counsel for the petitioner, it appears that the petitioners in W.P.(Cr.) Nos. 253 of 2026 and 534 of 2026 were at the receiving end of Kotwali P. S. Case No. 243 of 2024 whereas the counter case has been numbered as Kotwali P. S. Case No. 242 of 2024 instituted by the petitioner – Raj Kumar Verma, petitioner in W. P. (Cr.) Filing No. 17522 of 2026. The joint compromise petition has been brought on record in I. A. No. 11935 of 2026 and on perusal of which it reveals that the dispute and differences between the parties have been amicably settled at the behest of common friends, relatives and well-wishers of the community and they do not bear any ill-will against each other and therefore it has been mentioned by the informant in the respective cases that they do not have any objection if the entire criminal proceeding in connection with Kotwali P. S. Case No. 243 of 2024 and Kotwali P. S. Case No. 242 of 2024 are quashed and set aside. Admittedly, no serious injuries have been suffered by any of the parties on account of the assault committed inside of court premises of the learned Principal Judge, Family Court, Ranchi on 20.09.2024. On perusal of the contents of the FIR of each of the case does reveal a -4- commonality with respect to the incident which had taken place on 20.09.2024 which flared up and ultimately led to quarrel and assault with fists and slaps. No major injuries have been suffered by the members of any of the parties. Since the dispute in question has already been settled as recorded in I. A. No. 11935 of 2026 in W.P.(Cr.) No. 253 of 2026 and since good relations have been restored between both the parties on the basis of such compromise, the entire criminal proceedings in connection with Kotwali P. S. Case No. 243 of 2024 and Kotwali P. S. Case No. 244 of 2024 are hereby quashed and set aside. All these applications and pending I.As stand disposed of.
