The present writ petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to ensure action under Section 136 of the Tamil Nadu Urban Local Bodies Act, 1998 and act as per the demolition notice dated 15.10.2025 and to take further action for demolition and removal of the dangerous building bearing Old Door No.170, New Door No.304, Linghi Chetty Street, George Town, Chennai as contemplated under the Act. 2. Heard Mr.K.Ponraj, learned counsel for the petitioner and Ms.K.Aswini Devi, learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondent Corporation. 3. Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is a practising advocate and while he was walking across the building bearing Old Door No.170, New Door No.304, Linghi Chetty Street, George Town, Chennai, the debris from the building fell just before his nose and as a matter of caution, he has made a representation to the respondent Corporation to remove the dilapidated building, however no action is taken. 4. Learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondent Corporation submits that the petitioner's representation would be considered and action would https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis WP No. 19345 of 2026 __________ be taken up for demolishing the aforementioned dilapidated building at the earliest, within a period of six months. 5. In view of the said submission made by the learned Standing Counsel for the Corporation, the respondent Corporation is directed to demolish and remove the dilapidated building situated at Old Door No.170, New Door No.304, Linghi Chetty Street, George Town, Chennai within a period of six months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 6.
