Accused Nos.1 to 3 in Crime No.146/2026 registered by Chikkamagaluru Rural Police Station, Chikkamagaluru for the offences punishable under Sections 352, 118(1), 109, 115(2), 351(2) and 190 of BNS, 2023, are before this Court in this petition filed under Section 482 of BNSS, 2023, seeking anticipatory bail. 2. Heard the learned counsel for the parties. - 3 - HC-KAR NC: 2026:KHC:32436 CRL.P No. 7349 of 2026 3. FIR in Crime No.146/2026 was registered by Chikkamagaluru Rural Police Station, Chikkamagaluru, for the aforesaid offences against the petitioners and others based on the first information dated 01.04.2026 received from Lakesh, who is the alleged victim in the present case. Apprehending arrest, petitioners herein had filed Crl.Misc.No.225/2026 before the jurisdictional Sessions Court, which was rejected on 02.05.2026. Therefore, they are before this Court. 4. A reading of the first information would go to show that on 01.04.2026, first informant along with his family members was returning in his car after attending a festival in a temple at Kumaragiri Village, Chikkamagalur and when they reached Kumaragiri Arch at about 02.30 p.m., there was traffic jam. The first informant saw that petitioners and other persons were quarrelling with each other and when first informant questioned them, accused No.1 allegedly abused him and assaulted him with a dagger and caused injuries. In respect of the said incident, there is a case and counter case registered by Chikkamagaluru Rural Police Station, Chikkamagaluru in Crime No.146/2026 and Crime No.147/2026. It is not in dispute that - 4 - HC-KAR NC: 2026:KHC:32436 CRL.P No. 7349 of 2026 injured victim in the present case has not suffered any serious injuries in the incident in question. Under the circumstances, the following order:- 5. The petition is allowed. The respondent - Police or any other police in the State of Karnataka are directed to release the petitioners in the event of their arrest in Crime No.146/2026 registered by Chikkamagaluru Rural Police Station, Chikkamagaluru for the offences punishable under Sections 352, 118(1), 109, 115(2), 351(2) and 190 of BNS, 2023, subject to the following conditions: 1. The Petitioners shall appear before the Investigating Officer within 15 days from the date of receipt of the copy of this order and shall execute a personal bond for a sum of Rs.1,00,000/- each with two sureties for the likesum to the satisfaction of the investigating officer. 2. Petitioners shall regularly appear before the Trial Court without fail unless exempted by the Trial Court for valid reasons. 3. Petitioners shall not tamper with the prosecution witnesses and they shall co-operate - 5 - HC-KAR NC: 2026:KHC:32436 CRL.P No. 7349 of 2026 with the police for investigation and appear before them whenever called upon. 4.
