06.03.2026 rc/ct.no.15 Item No.30 WPA No. 3352 of 2026 Subrata Chakraborty Versus The State of West Bengal & Ors. Mr. Debasish Sur Mr. Amitava Chowdhury ..for the petitioner Mr. Rajarshi Basu Mr. Ananda Dulal Sarkar ..for the State Affidavit of service filed by the petitioner is taken on record. The petitioner claims to be the recorded owner of 1.25 decimals of land in L.R.dag no. 3423/2973 in L.R. khatian No. 932. The petitioner seeks a direction upon the Block Land and Land Reforms Officer as well as the Pradhan, Kashinagar Gram Panchayat to measure and demarcate the area and extent of land purchased by him. The petitioner has submitted a representation in this regard before the concerned authorities and seeks consideration of the same. Learned counsel for the State submits that the concerned authority has no obligation to demarcate/measure the private property of the petitioner. This Court agrees with the contention of the learned counsel appearing for the State. Since the petitioner claims to be the recorded owner of the land in question and seeks demarcation of the same, he is at liberty to take necessary steps in this regard. The Block Land and Land Reforms Officer or the Pradhan, Kashinagar Gram Panchayat is under no obligation to cause demarcation of the said land. The writ petition is devoid of any merit and is accordingly dismissed. There shall, however, be no order as to costs. Urgent certified website copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities. (Suvra Ghosh,J) 2
