This bail application has been filed under Section 483 of BNSS, 2023, seeking release of the accused, namely, Abu Hanifa @ Hanif Ali, on bail, who Page No.# 2/3 was arrested on 15.01.2026, in connection with Basar P.S. Case no. 26/2025, registered under Sections 336(3)/340(2) of the BNS, 2023. 3. An FIR was lodged on 20.11.2025 before the Officer-in-Charge of Doimukh Police Station by one P. Mary Bui, Circle Officer, Yupia, Papum Pare District, alleging that it had come to her notice that forged Inner Line Permits (hereinafter referred to as ‘ILPs’) were being circulated in her name bearing her official designation and signature. 4. Upon receipt of the said FIR, the police registered a case and initiated an investigation. In the course of the investigation, the police arrested the accused, namely Abu Hanifa @ Hanif Ali, along with another co-accused, namely Abdul Khadir. However, the said co-accused was released on the same day owing to certain health issues. 5. Learned counsel for the applicant submits that the accused has already spent 49 days behind the bar, he may be released on bail at this stage. 6. Per contra, Ms. T. Jini, learned Additional Public Prosecutor for the State, submits that the matter involves a serious allegation, as forged ILPs have been issued in the name of a Circle Officer. She further submits that the investigation is still in progress and that the main accused in the instant case is yet to be arrested. In view of the same, she strongly opposes the prayer for bail made on behalf of the accused. 7. I have considered the submissions advanced by the learned counsel for the respective parties and have also carefully perused the scanned copy of the Case Diary produced before this Court. 8. Having regard to the nature and seriousness of the allegations and considering that the investigation is still at a nascent stage, this Court is not Page No.# 3/3 inclined to grant bail to the accused at this stage. 9.
