2026:JHHC:24649 IN THE HIGH COURT OF JHARKHAND AT RANCHI W.P.(C) No. 5023 of 2021 Devilal Mahato @ Debilal Mahato, son of late Chotu Mahato, resident of village and P.O- Bhowrah, P.S. Jorapokhar, District- Dhanbad, Jharkhand. .... Petitioner(s) Versus 1. State of Jharkhand 2. The Revenue Officer, Dhanbad (under CNT Act), P.O and P.S. and District- Dhanbad, Jharkhand. … Respondent(s). ------ CORAM : SRI ANANDA SEN, J. ------ For the Petitioner(s): Mr. Rajiv Kr. Shekhar, Advocate. For the State Mr. Aman Kumar, AC to SC-VI. ------ 12/17.08.2026 The grievance of the petitioner is that respondent No. 2 has corrected the land records in his favour only to the extent of two decimals instead of two kathas i.e. 3.5 decimals of land. 2. The land, which is the subject matter of this writ petition, was purchased by this petitioner. A proceeding under Section 87 of the Chhotanagpur Tenancy Act was also instituted by the petitioner being Suit No. 270/07. It has been submitted that the sale deed has been brought on record by the petitioner along with the revenue receipts till 2009-10. The Revenue Officer thereafter finding the claim of the petitioner to be genuine, accepted the case of the petitioner and allow the suit in favour of the petitioner, deleting the name of Satinath Ray whose name was illegally entered and ordered for correcting the same. The grievance of the petitioner is that though the correction was made but it was only in respect of two decimals of land in stead of two kathas which is 3.5 decimals. 3. Considering the grievance of the petitioner, I direct the petitioner to approach the Revenue Officer, Dhanbad by way of filing representation along with this order and if it is found that the petitioner had purchased two kathas of land and considering the sale deed, if correction is required, the same will be made and if for any reasons, the claim of the petitioner is rejected, the reasons thereof should be communicated to the petitioner. 4. The entire process should be concluded within twelve weeks from the date of receipt of representation along with a copy of this order. 5. Accordingly, this writ petition stands disposed of.
