The petitioners were earlier issued with Indian Passports and before expiry of the validity date, the petitioners submitted an application for re-issuance of their passports. 3. Learned State counsel representing the respondents submitted that earlier passports issued to the petitioners were an error since the petitioners are not Indian citizens and the petitioners' request for granting Indian citizenship is pending consideration and till consideration of the said application, the petitioners' request cannot be considered. 4. Admittedly, the petitioners have applied for granting Indian Citizenship and hence, the petitioners cannot be issued with the passport. 5. With this observation, the Writ Petition is disposed of. In the event of the petitioners have granted Indian Citizenship, the petitioners are 3/6 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis preserved liberty to make an application afresh for issuance of fresh passports. 6.
