Heard Mr. Jeet Ram Patel, learned counsel for the petitioners. Also heard Ms. Vaishali Mahilong, learned Deputy Government Advocate appearing for respondent Nos. 1 to 3/State and Ms. Preeti Sharma, learned counsel appearing for respondent No. 4. 2. The present petition has been filed under Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure seeking the following reliefs:- “1. That, this Hon'ble Court may kindly be pleased to call for the records pertaining to registration of FIR against the petitioners on the basis of 3 complaint lodged by respondent No.4 at Police Station Sakti, District Janjgir-Champa (C.G.). 2. That, this Hon'ble Court may kindly be pleased to quash the impugned FIR bearing Crime No. 228/2020 registered against the petitioners for the offence punishable under Section 498-A/34 of IPC at Police Station Sakti, District Janjgir- Champa (C.G.). 3. Any other relief(s), which this Hon'ble Court may deem fit and proper in the facts and circumstances of the case, may also be granted in favour of the petitioners.” 3. Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the impugned FIR has been registered on the basis of false and omnibus allegations. It is further submitted that the criminal proceedings have remained pending for a considerable period and, till date, no substantial progress has been made in the trial. 4. Per contra, learned counsel appearing for respondent No.4 submits that the criminal case arising out of the impugned FIR is presently pending before the competent trial Court. It is submitted that the examination-in-chief of respondent No.4, who is the wife of petitioner No.1 and the complainant in the case, has already been recorded. However, her cross-examination is yet to be completed. It is further submitted that the matter has been pending since the year 2024 and the delay is on account of non-completion of cross-examination. 5. Having heard learned counsel for the parties and considering the fact that the criminal trial arising out of the impugned FIR is already 4 pending before the competent Court and the examination-in-chief of the complainant has been recorded, this Court is not inclined to examine the merits of the allegations involved in the present petition at this stage. 6. Be that as it may, considering the submissions made by learned counsel for the parties and in order to ensure expeditious conclusion of the proceedings, the trial Court is directed to proceed with the matter on day-to-day basis, as far as practicable, and make all endeavours to conclude the trial expeditiously. 7. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, the learned trial Court is directed to proceed with the trial expeditiously and make all endeavours to conclude the same, in accordance with law, within a period of six months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, provided there is no legal impediment and the parties extend full cooperation in the proceedings. 8.
