Petitioner versus State Of Chhattisgarh Through Station House Officer (Sho) Ps- Civil Lines, Raipur Dist.- Raipur, Chhattisgarh ... Respondent For Petitioner : None For Respondent/State : Ms. Ritika Verma, Panel Lawyer. Hon'ble Shri Ramesh Sinha , Chief Justice Order on Board 18.06.2026 1. This is an office reference. 2. This Court, vide order dated 22.05.2025 passed in MCRC No. 4026 of 2025, while allowing the bail of the applicant, namely, Somesh Dubey had expressed its trust that the trial Court would make an earnest endeavor to conclude the trial expeditiously in accordance with law, preferably within a period of six months from the date of receipt of a certified copy of the order, if there was no legal impediment. 3. Earlier also, this Court had granted extension of time for compliance of the order dated 22.05.2025. 4. The learned Chief Judicial Magistrate, Raipur (C.G.) vide his request ABHISHEK SHRIVAS Digitally signed by ABHISHEK SHRIVAS Date: 2026.06.19 11:11:26 +0530 2 letter dated 15.05.2026 has requested for grant a further period of six months for concluding the trial. 5. It transpires from the PUD that the present case involves multiple accused persons and numerous aggrieved parties, and the prosecution has cited as many as 42 witnesses. Despite continuous efforts by the Court, only seven prosecution witnesses have been examined till date. The progress of the trial has been affected on account of absence of witnesses, non-appearance of accused persons on certain dates, adjournments sought by the parties, and the considerable time consumed in recording and cross-examination of witnesses. Several material witnesses are yet to be examined and their evidence is essential for the just adjudication of the case. In the aforesaid circumstances, the trial could not be concluded within the stipulated period. As substantial prosecution evidence still remains to be recorded and time would thereafter be required for completion of trial and pronouncement of judgment, it is respectfully submitted that a further period of four months may kindly be granted for final disposal of the case. 6. The request appears to be reasonable. The concerned trial Court is directed to conclude the trial as early as possible, preferably within a further period of six months from today. 7. Accordingly, this CRMP stands disposed off with the aforesaid direction. 8. Registry is directed to send a certified copy of this order to the trial Court concerned for necessary information and compliance. Sd/- (Ramesh Sinha) Chief Justice Abhishek
