1. This is an office reference.
2. This Court, vide order dated 04.07.2024 passed in MCRC No. 2608 of 2024, while allowing the bail of the applicants, namely, Savan Kumar Kewat @ Chhotu and Amit Kewat @ Betu had expressed its trust that the trial Court would make an earnest endeavor to conclude the trial expeditiously in accordance with law, preferably within a period of six months from the date of receipt of a certified copy of the order, if there was no legal impediment.
3. Earlier on three occasions also, this Court had granted extension of time ABHISHEK SHRIVAS Digitally signed by ABHISHEK SHRIVAS Date: 2026.06.19 11:11:25 +0530
2 for compliance of the order dated 04.07.2024.
4. The learned Special Judge (NDPS Act), Bilaspur District-Bilaspur (C.G.) vide her request letter dated 12.05.2026 has requested for grant of some more time for concluding the trial.
5. It transpires from the PUD that the presence of the accused persons is yet to be secured. For ensuring their appearance before the Court, arrest warrants have already been issued through the Nodal Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Headquarters, Bilaspur. However, despite repeated efforts, the accused persons have not appeared before the Court and, consequently, the trial proceedings have not been able to progress further. The continued absence of the accused persons has resulted in unavoidable delay in the conduct of the case. It is further submitted that the witnesses are also not appearing regularly and in a timely manner before the Court, which has additionally affected the progress of the trial. At present, a total of 291 NDPS cases are pending before this Court, out of which 52 cases are time-bound and require priority attention. Despite the heavy pendency, continuous efforts are being made for expeditious disposal of all such matters. In these circumstances, it is respectfully submitted that a further period may kindly be granted for the final disposal of the present Special Sessions (NDPS) Case.
6. The request appears to be reasonable. The concerned trial Court is
directed to conclude the trial as early as possible, preferably within a further period of four months from today.
7. Accordingly, this CRMP stands disposed off with the aforesaid direction.
8. Registry is directed to send a certified copy of this order to the trial Court concerned for necessary information and compliance. Sd/-
