( 2026:JHHC:22088 ) IN THE HIGH COURT OF JHARKHAND AT RANCHI B.A. No. 6888 of 2026 ------ Imtiyaz Ansari @ Imteyaz Ansari, aged about 38 years, s/o Hussain Ansari, resident of Village-Masmano, P.O. & P.S.- Chanho, Dist.-Ranchi, Jharkhand … Petitioner Versus The State of Jharkhand … Opposite Party ------ CORAM: HON’BLE MR. JUSTICE ANIL KUMAR CHOUDHARY ------ For the Petitioner : Ms. Vani Kumari, Advocate For the State : Mr. Tarun Kumar, Addl. P.P. For the Informant : Mr. Pran Pranay, Advocate ------ Order No.02 Dated- 27.07.2026 Heard the parties. The petitioner has moved this Court for grant of bail in connection with S.T. No. 610 of 2025 arising out of Chanho P.S. Case No.131 of 2024 registered for the offences punishable under sections 118(1)/118(2)/103(1)/61/3(5) of the B.N.S., 2023. This is the second journey of the petitioner with the prayer for regular bail and earlier the prayer for regular bail was rejected vide order dated 25.08.2025 in B.A. No. 3789 of 2025. The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the fresh ground is that the petitioner has been in custody for some more time. It is next submitted that the petitioner undertakes to cooperate with the trial of the case. Hence, it is submitted that the petitioner be admitted to bail. Learned Addl. P.P. and the learned counsel for the informant on the other hand vehemently opposes the prayer for bail and submits that keeping in view the serious nature of allegation against the petitioner of committing murder of Ashok Kumar Singh, there is every chance of the petitioner absconding and tampering with evidence, if released on bail. Hence, it is submitted that the petitioner ought not to be admitted to bail. Considering the serious nature of allegation against the petitioner and the chance of the petitioner absconding and tampering with evidence, if released on bail as well as the fact that the prayer for bail of the petitioner has been rejected on merit, this Court is of the considered view that the mere fact that the petitioner has been in custody for some more time is not a ground to admit the petitioner on bail. Accordingly, the prayer for bail of the abovenamed petitioner is rejected. (Anil Kumar Choudhary, J.) 27.07.2026 Gunjan-
