JUSTICE GAUTAM KUMAR CHOUDHARY For the Petitioner : Mr. Devesh Ajmani, Advocate For the State : Mr. Prabir Chatterjee, Special P.P. ------ Order No.02 / Dated : 20.01.2026 Bail petition filed on behalf of the petitioners- Shamsher Alam Ghazi, Raju Gaja @ Raju Ghazi, Santu Biswas and Anamul Haque @ Enamul Haque, who are in custody since 11.09.2025 in connection with Namkum P.S. Case No. 257 of 2025 for the offence registered under Sections 338, 336(3), 340(2) of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and Sections 12(1)(2), and 13 of Jharkhand Bovine Animal (Prohibition of Slaughter) Act, 2005 pending in the Court of learned Judicial Magistrate, Ranchi, is pressed into motion. As per the FIR, two pick-up vans were intercepted in which bovine flesh was found being transported. Petitioner nos.1 and 3 are drivers, whereas petitioner nos.2 and 4 are the cleaners of the said two vehicles. It is submitted by the learned counsel on behalf of petitioners that they were not personally involved in cow slaughter or transportation of bovine meat. There is no evidence to establish that the seized meat was of bovine animal. Learned Special P.P. opposed the bail petition. It is submitted that huge quantity of bovine flesh was seized by the police from both the pick-up vans. Considering the submissions advanced that the petitioners have no criminal antecedents and they are in custody for more 4½ months, the above named petitioners are directed to be released on bail on furnishing bail bond of Rs.25,000/-(Twenty Five Thousand) each with two sureties of the like amount each to the satisfaction of the Court below and cash security of Rs.10,000/- to be deposited by each of the petitioners.
