The contention of the petitioner is that the respondents have taken the petitioner's land without initiating acquisition proceedings for the purpose of widening the road. If the submission of the petitioner is correct, then the laying/widening of the road becomes illegal. The petitioner is protected under Article 300-A of the Constitution. 3. In view of the above, the respondents are directed to initiate acquisition proceedings.
