GP FOR REVENUE 3 THE HONOURABLE SRI JUSTICE BALAJI MEDAMALLI WRIT PETITION NO: 14055 of 2026 The Court made the following Order: Instant Writ Petition has been filed by the petitioner under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for the following relief: “.... to issue a writ, order or direction more particularly one in the nature of Writ of Mandamus declaring the action of the respondent authorities in not preventing the event like Jallikattu going to be conducted by some of the village people at Chintamakulapalle Village, V.Kota Mandal, Chittoor District in the name of Goppa Myleru Panduga, without having any prior permission, as illegal, arbitrary and violation of provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, apart from violation of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, and consequently direct the respondents to initiate appropriate and stringent action against the culprits to stop/prevent the event of jallikattu at Chintamakulapalle Village, V.Kota Mandal, Chittoor District and pass such other order …”. 2. Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and learned Assistant Government Pleader for Home appearing for the respondents. 3. Learned Assistant Government Pleader for Home forwarded Written Instructions of the Sub-Inspector of Police, V.Kota Police Station, Chittoor District, dated 30.04.2026, wherein the relevant portion is extracted hereunder: “Therefore, it is submitted to the Hon’ble High Court that the alleged petitioner did not approach Respondent No.6 4 and 7 in V.Kota Urban Police Station as on till date and not prefer any Complainant against unknown persons belonging to his village who are planning to conduct a Jallikattu-like event in the name of “Goppa Myleru Panduga” in next month i.e., May, 2026 and also likewise, we have not granted any permission to conduct any Jallikattu, and we had no prior information about it. If we come to know of it, we will take legal action against the concerned organizers and bind them over before the Respondent No.5. In the said village, we have been maintaining constant surveillance through women police as well as village police staff.” 4. Learned Assistant Government Pleader submits that on a perusal of Written Instructions dated 30.04.2026, would clearly reveals that the respondent police have no prior information about conducting of Jallikattu-like event and they will initiate appropriate legal action against the concerned organizers and bind them over before respondent No.5 and as such, they are maintaining constant surveillance through women police as well as village police staff. 5. Recording the submission made by learned Assistant Government Pleader, this Writ Petition is disposed of directing the respondents to take appropriate legal action against concerned organizers in the event of any illegal activity particularly Jallikattu- 5 like event, is conducted or contemplating to conduct.
