D/L.01. May 15, 2026. KAUSHIK WPA No. 10705 of 2026 Bappaditya Manna Vs. WBSEDCL & Ors. Mr. Syed Nasim Aejaz … for the petitioner Mr. Srijan Nayak Ms. Rituparna Maitra … for the WBSEDCL This is a misconceived writ petition and should never have been filed. Briefly, the petitioner had applied for a separate electricity connection to his premises. By a communication dated 23rd February, 2026, the WBSEDCL has sought for land ownershi8p documents from the petitioner. In this background, the petitioner has filed this writ petition assailing the right of the WBSEDCL to ask for any such documentation. The grievance of the petitioner is without any basis or legal foundation. In view of the impugned communication dated 23rd February, 2026, the petitioner is directed to duly respond to the same in accordance with law. It is made clear that there has been no adjudication on the disputes raised by the parties and the WBSEDCL is to act in accordance with the extant rules and regulations 2 and deal with the application of the petitioner for an electricity connection independently on merits.
