This is yet another case of agriculturist, who has not been paid compensation for 19 years. The possession of land of petitioner was taken on 16.08.2007. Private negotiations were carried out. Storage tank was constructed. Contractors are also paid their bills. After about more than 19 years, respondent No.4 submitted a proposal for acquisition to the Collector. On 19.06.2025, the final award is delivered. Despite the final award, the District Collector failed to deposit the amount of statutory interest under Section 80 of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 (for short, ‘the Act, 2013’). 2026:BHC-AUG:48677-DB 2 45.WP.13721.26.odt 2. In view of there being no dispute as regards the sequence events narrated above, this writ petition is allowed. 3. The learned Advocate for petitioner empathetically canvasses that the present Government has lot of funds available and therefore, the payment of interest payable under Section 80 of the Act, 2013 should be made only within 15 days. The District Collector, Beed, shall ensure that the compensation to this petitioner in terms of statutory interest as is payable under Section 80 of the Act, 2013, shall be paid to him, within two months.
