Rakesh Kainthla, Judge The petitioners have -led the present petition for quashing of FIR No. 14 of 2023, dated 23.5.2023, registered at Women Police Station Dharamshala, District Kangra, H.P., for the commission of o5ences punishable under Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and consequential proceedings arising out 1 Whether reporters of Local Papers may be allowed to see the judgment? Yes. 2 2026:HHC:34713 of the said FIR based on the compromise e5ected between the parties. 2. It has been asserted that the informant had lodged the FIR because of some misunderstanding and miscommunication between the parties. Both the parties have resolved their di5erences with the intervention of respectable persons of the area. They want to maintain cordial relations with each other, and the informant does not want to proceed further with the matter after the compromise. Hence, the petition. 3. The statement of the informant/victim, Sujata, was recorded on 24.07.2026, in which she stated that she had entered into a compromise voluntarily without any in@uence from any person and she does not want to proceed further with the matter. 4. I have heard learned counsel for the parties and have gone through the records carefully. 5. The present FIR has arisen out of a matrimonial dispute which can be quashed based on the compromise as per the judgments in Gian Singh versus State, 2012 (10) SCC 303, Narender versus State of Punjab, 2014 (16) SCC 466, Vikas Singh vs. State of H.P. 3 2026:HHC:34713 (2023)I DMC 335 (HP) and Sanjay Kumar vs. State of H.P2023 (1) Him L.R. 602, which are binding upon this Court. 6. Consequently, the present petition is allowed and FIR No. 14 of 2023, dated 23.5.2023, registered at Women Police Station Dharamshala, District Kangra, H.P., for the commission of o5ences punishable under Section 498A of IPC and consequential proceedings pending/initiated against the petitioners-accused in pursuance thereto are quashed. 7. Petition stands disposed of in the above terms, so also pending miscellaneous applications, if any. 8. Parties are permitted to produce a copy of this judgment, downloaded from the webpage of the High Court of Himachal Pradesh, before the authorities concerned, and the said authorities shall not insist on the production of a certi-ed copy, but if required, may verify passing of the order from the Website of the High Court.
