The petitioner has filed the present petition seeking a direction to form a joint Parliamentary Committee to enquire into why the 1947 Government of India did not institute Judicial Enquiry Commission in the case of Mahatma Gandhiji's Assassination for - 3 - HC-KAR NC: 2026:KHC:27007-DB WP No. 12170 of 2026 17 years from 1965. He seeks a direction for instituting an enquiry as to what triggered the Government of India to institute judicial enquiry after 17 years. Additionally, he seeks enquiry into the letter dated 08.05.1947 stated to have been sent by Mahatma Gandhiji to the British Viceroy. He also seeks a direction for conducting a search into missing Volume 2 of Mahatma Gandhiji's autobiography. 2. The petitioner had also filed a public interest litigation [W.P. No.33695/2024 (GM-RES-PIL)] earlier seeking relief alleging that the Volume 2 of autobiography of Mahatma Gandhiji is missing and had sought directions for certain queries to be answered. He also alleged that there is a link between the missing volume and the suppression of certain letters. 3. We find that the present petition is not substantiated by sufficient material and is based on mere surmises. As noted above, the petitioner had filed a writ petition [W.P. No.33695/2024 (GM-RES-PIL)] praying that light be thrown on the missing Volume 2 of autobiography of Mahatma Gandhi. It is apparent that the present petition is an exercise for securing publicity rather than seeking any relief in public interest. 5. In view of the above, we are not persuaded to entertain this petition. The same is dismissed with costs quantified at `10,000/-.
