1. Present petition, filed under Section 29A (4) and (5) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 (hereinafter referred to as ‘the Act’) seeks extension of the mandate of arbitral tribunal.
2. The petitioner herein had earlier filed a petition under Section 9 of the Act seeking interim directions and, while disposing of the abovesaid petition, the disputes were referred to Arbitration and Dr. S Muralidhar, Former Chief Justice of High Court of Orissa was appointed as Sole Arbitrator.
3. Admittedly, on one earlier occasion also, the petitioner had filed a similar petition seeking extension of mandate and such earlier petition [O.M.P.(MISC.) (COMM.) NO. 903/2025] was disposed of by this Court on 07.11.2025, while extending the mandate till 31.10.2026.

Learned counsel for petitioner submits that significant and substantial progress has already been made in the arbitration and evidence affidavits of This is a digitally signed order. the sole witness of the petitioner and of all the four witnesses of the respondents are already on record and the examination is under way.
5. It is thus submitted that the arbitration is at an advance stage and delay is, primarily, attributable to the complex nature of the disputes and also for the reason that various interlocutory applications were filed by the parties from time to time.

Learned counsel for respondent has joined the proceedings through video-conferencing and has no objection if the present application is allowed.
7. Keeping in mind the overall facts and circumstances of the case and in the interest of justice, the mandate of arbitral tribunal is, hereby, extended for another period of one year, to be reckoned from 31.10.2026.
8. Since the matter has already got delayed considerably, both the sides shall give requisite assistance and cooperation to the learned Sole Arbitrator so as to ensure quick conclusion of the arbitral proceedings.
9. The petition stands disposed of in aforesaid terms.
