Neutral Citation No. ( 2026:JHHC:18805-DB ) IN THE HIGH COURT OF JHARKHAND AT RANCHI Criminal Appeal (D.B.) No. 690 of 2026 --------- Maya @ Shekh Sima @ Shaikh Seema Khatoon, D/o Md. Riyaz, R/o Village- Amritnagar, Near High School, Post- Amritnagar, P.S.- Muffasil, Hazaribagh, District- Hazaribagh, Jharkhand ... … Appellant Versus State of Jharkhand ... … Respondent --------- CORAM : HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE RONGON MUKHOPADHYAY HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE ARUN KUMAR RAI --------- For the Appellant : Mr. Shiv Prasad Singh, Advocate For the State : Mrs. Amrita Kumari, A.P.P. --------- 03/29.06.2026 Heard Mr. Shiv Prasad Singh, learned counsel for the appellant and Mrs. Amrita Kumari, learned A.P.P. for the State. This appeal is directed against the order dated 18.04.2026 passed in Misc. Criminal Application No. 511/2026, arising out of Hazaribagh Muffasil P.S. Case No. 44/2026, by the learned Additional Sessions Judge-I-cum- Spl. Judge, SC/ST Act, Hazaribagh, whereby and whereunder, the prayer for bail of the appellant has been rejected. It has been alleged that the appellant along with the other accused persons had changed the name of the victim and had taken her to Aligarh for getting her marriage solemnized with a person named Mukesh. However, the said Mukesh had refused to solemnize marriage, after which the accused persons including the present appellant had produced another boy Ravindra who had solemnized marriage with the victim. It has been alleged that the victim was subjected to sexual intimacy by the said Ravindra as well as his brother and they had further disclosed that they had purchased her for an amount of Rs. 1,25,000/-. The victim had finally managed to escape from the clutches of Ravindra as well as his brother and had come back to Hazaribagh. Submission has been advanced by the learned counsel for the appellant that admittedly the appellant was not involved in trafficking of the victim. It has been submitted that the appellant is in custody since 02.03.2026. Learned A.P.P. for the State has opposed the prayer for bail of the appellant and while referring to para 17 of the case diary submitted that in her 183 BNSS statement, the victim has supported the occurrence. It appears that the appellant was actively involved along with the other accused persons in trafficking the victim to Aligarh and thereafter getting her marriage forcibly solemnized with one Lallu Yadav @ Ravindra where the said person as well as his brother had sexually exploited the victim. Regard being had to the specific nature of allegations levelled against the appellant, we are not inclined to interfere in the impugned order dated 18.04.2026 passed by the learned Additional Sessions Judge-I-cum-Spl. Judge, SC/ST Act, Hazaribagh in Misc. Criminal Application No. 511/2026, arising out of Hazaribagh Muffasil P.S. Case No. 44/2026 and, consequently we dismiss this appeal at this stage.
