By way of the present petition, the petitioner is seeking quashing of FIR No. 16/2026, registered at Police Station Adarsh Nagar, Delhi, for the offences punishable under Sections 115(2)/126(2)/351(2)/74/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (hereinafter referred to as ‘BNS’), and all consequential proceedings emanating therefrom on the basis of the settlement arrived at between the parties. 2. Issue notice. The learned APP accepts notice on behalf of the State. 3. The petitioners and respondents no. 2 and 3 are present before this Court and have been identified by their counsel and the Investigating Officer. This is a digitally signed order. Learned counsel for the Petitioners submits that, on the intervening night of 31.12.2025 and 01.01.2026, a quarrel arose between the parties in connection with the bursting of firecrackers, during which the accused persons allegedly abused, threatened and assaulted Respondent No. 2 with a sharp-edged weapon. It is further alleged that, when Respondent No. 3, the daughter of Respondent No. 2, intervened, she was pushed and assaulted, and that Respondent No. 2 sustained injuries while attempting to protect himself and Respondent No. 3. 5. He further submits that the parties, who are immediate neighbours, have subsequently amicably settled their disputes with the intervention of their well-wishers and friends and are presently on cordial terms. Respondent Nos. 2 and 3 do not wish to pursue the matter further and have no objection to quashing of the FIR and the proceedings emanating therefrom. 6. On a query made by this Court, respondents No. 2 and 3, who have been identified by the IO, have categorically stated that they have entered into compromise, vide Settlement Agreement dated 02.09.2026, of their own free will and without any pressure, coercion or threat. Therefore, they have no objection if the present FIR is quashed. 7. In view of the above, the parties have amicably resolved their differences out of their own free will, and without any coercion, no useful purpose will be served by continuing the proceedings; rather, the same would create further acrimony between them. It would thus be in the interest of justice to quash the abovementioned FIR and the proceedings pursuant thereto. There is no legal impediment in quashing the FIR in question. 8.
