JUSTICE ANU SIVARAMAN) This writ petition (Habeas Corpus) is filed seeking the following prayers:- i. "Issue a writ of habeas corpus against the Respondent police and direct them to produce the brother of the petitioner i.e., Mr. Karthik Veerab Thiran before this Hon'ble Court and release him from the illegal detention forthwith. ii. Issue any other writ or order and grant such other and further relief as this Hon'ble Court may deem fit in the facts and circumstance of the case, in the interest of justice and equity." 2. We have heard the learned counsel appearing for the writ petitioner as well as the learned State Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents- State. 3. Learned counsel appearing for the writ petitioner submits that the petitioner's brother is missing since 04.05.2026 and his whereabouts are still unknown. 4. Learned State Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents submits, on instructions, that this is a case of a missing person, in respect of which a complaint has been registered and the investigation is ongoing. It is submitted that - 4 - HC-KAR NC: 2026:KHC:26079-DB WPHC No. 56 of 2026 appropriate steps to trace the missing person will be taken by the jurisdictional police and a report shall be filed in accordance with law. 5. In the above view of the matter, this writ petition (Habeas Corpus) is disposed of with a direction to the respondents to conduct an investigation into the missing person complaint filed by the writ petitioner and to take appropriate steps in accordance with law to trace the missing person.
