4. The petitioners and respondent no. 2 are present before this Court and have been duly identified by their respective learned counsel[s] and Investigating Officer [IO]. 5. Briefly stated, the aforesaid FIR came to be registered at the instance of respondent No. 2 in relation to an altercation which allegedly took place on the intervening night of 31.12.2025 and 01.01.2026 between the parties, who reside in the same locality. During the pendency of the proceedings, with the intervention of their family members, relatives and common friends, the parties amicably resolved their disputes vide Memorandum of Understanding dated 02.09.2026, without any monetary consideration. Respondent No. 2 has stated that he has no surviving grievance against the petitioners and has no objection to the quashing of the aforesaid FIR. 6.
On a query made by this Court, respondent No. 2, who has been duly identified by the IO, has stated that he entered into the Memorandum of Understanding dated 02.09.2026 of his own free will and without any pressure, coercion, undue influence or threat. He has further stated that he has no objection if the aforementioned FIR is quashed. 7. In view of the above, since the parties have amicably resolved their differences of their own free will and without any pressure, coercion, undue influence or threat, no useful purpose would be served by continuing the proceedings. Rather, continuation of the proceedings may only give rise to further acrimony between the parties. In these circumstances, this Court is of the view that the interest of justice would be served by bringing the proceedings to an end. Accordingly, the aforesaid FIR and all proceedings arising therefrom are liable to be quashed. This is a digitally signed order.
