Notice. Ms. Seema Sharma, learned Deputy Advocate General and Ms. Shivani Priya, learned counsel, appear and waive service of notice on behalf of respondents No.1 to 3 and respondent No.4, respectively. 2. Petitioner seeks correction of revenue entry in her Shajra Nasab with the assertion that she belongs to

Chohar Valley, however, the same has not been entered as such in the revenue record. According to the petitioner, such entry in the revenue record would enable her to get Certificate of belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBC) category as per the notification dated 16.11.2002 (Annexure P-1 Colly.). The petitioner intends to appear in the recruitment process for selection of Police Constables (Women) statedly being undertaken in the respondent-State as an OBC category candidate. 3. Admittedly, the petitioner has not even represented to the concerned quarters for correction of revenue entries in the Shajra Nasab. She has directly instituted this writ petition. 4. At this stage, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner will appropriately move respondent No.3-Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), Padhar, District Mandi within two days, whereafter, respondent No.3/competent authority be directed to consider and decide the same in accordance with law keeping in view the aforesaid notification dated 16.11.2002, as expeditiously as possible and within a time bound schedule. Learned counsel appearing for the respondents are not averse to this prayer. 3

In view of above submissions, considering the pleadings and the submissions made by learned counsel for the parties, this writ petition is disposed of with liberty reserved to the petitioner to make a representation to respondent No.3 for correcting the alleged wrong entry in the revenue record (Shajra Nasab).
In case such liberty is availed by the petitioner and representation is filed within two days from today, the same shall be considered and decided by respondent No.3/competent authority in accordance with law, keeping in view notification dated 16.11.2002, within a week thereafter. In the given facts and circumstances, respondent No.3/competent authority shall also afford opportunity of hearing to the petitioner. Keeping in view the urgency pleaded, the order so passed be communicated to the petitioner within the aforesaid period. Further rights and contentions of the parties are left open. The writ petition stands disposed of in the above terms, so also the pending miscellaneous application(s), if any. Jyotsna Rewal Dua August 21, 2026
